about

Nikolai Vavilov was a bio genetic scientist held in highest regard by Lenin. He crossed genetics to create hardy wheats that consequently saw the end of famine in India. As a forward thinking and pioneering bio genetic scientist, Nikolai set up the worlds first modern seed bank which was moved underground during German artillery bombardments and defended by scientists who nearly starved to death rather than eating any of the seeds they were protecting. Alas, Stalin had no patience for any science that didn't have an immediate affect and as a consequence, during WW2, the great Vavilov suffered and died as a captive of the Soviet leader.

I imagine VAVILOV'S MOON as a futuristic cosmic way station, where seed genetics have successfully been crossed to create plants hardy enough to grow in cosmic atmospheres, a "stop off" moon for spacecraft needing to bring in nutritional supplies, moons inhabited by dedicated scientists. When I listen to the music, I imagine alien plants growing from seed to blossom in stop motion animation. I see the artwork of the cosmos that featured in Marvel's Silver Surfer and Warlock comics of the 90's. Ron Lim penciled great cosmos. Coincidently before Galactus named his new Herald The Silver Surfer, he was Norrin Radd from Zenn La and Norin 10 was also the name of a revolutionary, famine beating, hardy wheat that was created by bio geneticists.
